APF Members from Africa, OECD countries and international institutions working on Africa focused on five key priorities for Africa’s development. First, progress made on addressing climate change, with a discussion of the outcome of the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference and its implications for Africa. Second, progress on fostering food security, focusing on progress made on implementing commitments to address food security challenges in Africa from the L’Aquila G8 Summit through to the Pittsburgh G20 Summit and the Rome World Food Summit on Food Security in December 2009. Third, monitoring the impact of and response to the international financial and economic crisis as it relates to Africa. Fourth, a special focus on the impact of the crisis on health in Africa. Finally, the World Bank will present the AU/NEPAD African Action Plan for 2010-2015. Over 100 senior level delegates attended the meeting from across the continent and OECD countries. The Statement on the conclusions of the meeting will be shared widely among the international development community. Meeting documents
Mutual Review of Development Effectiveness in Africa Report 2009: Promise & Performance
 |
The Mutual Review of Development Effectiveness in Africa Report 2009 is both an exercise in 'mutual accountability'- assessing what has been done to deliver commitments, and a review of 'development effectiveness'- assessing what results have been achieved. It is also intended to be of practical use of political leaders in looking forward to the key policy challenges ahead.
The review has been undertaken jointly by task teams from UNECA and OECD, in close consultation with the NEPAD Secretariat, and with inputs from African and international institutions and civil society.
